Variety of Models and Clients are Being Photographed in Many of Our Styles of Photography

Recently we’ve been shooting a variety of models and clients in many of our styles. We’ve also seen an increase in the number of men who are seeking modeling portfolio photographs, along with guys who are requesting boudoir/fashion-style sessions with us. VERY cool!

Cherie’s Studio Expanding – New Staff

Cherie’s Studio is excited to announce some new additions to our staff of professionals. Allow us to introduce to you Patrick and Marti!

Also new to our studio is Patrick, who is also from Columbus. He specializes in commercial, editorial and fine art photography.  You can see his work in Columbus’  614 magazine. Like all of us here, he’s always ready for a challenge, so get creative and bring him your ideas!

Finally, we have added Marti as a makeup artist to compliment the fine work of our “makeup-artist-in-residence”, Jennie. For the past ten years Marti has performed nationally in the Columbus-based rock band Saving Jane, and has trained under several makeup professionals to learn how to do makeup for stage and the performance arts.  Marti says, “I am passionate about makeup and making women feel beautiful, and I know what looks good on different people as well as what looks good on camera.”

So there you have it. I’m hoping our new group can evolve into a team that is more than the sum of its parts, and take the artistry we bring to the world of photography to another level.   Give us a call to discuss your ideas.  As you can see, at Cherie’s Studio, the sky is (almost!) the limit!

Cherie’s Studio – Lots of New Session Options

While Cherie’s Studio is known primarily for its boudoir and sensuous style of photography, we also enjoy working in other areas. We have offered modeling portfolio packages for quite some time, but we want to remind you that such packages apply to the guys as well. Plus, we can also do any kind of romantic photo shoot with couples. Bring us your ideas! Photographing the Female Form in the Nude: Part 1

The portraits created by a female nude photographer are some of the most artistic things to ever come into the art world. Anyone who has any artistic taste can appreciate an elegant photograph of the nude female form. In the world of photography, the splendor of a female nude captured by a skilled “nudes” photographer ranks high in displaying such unadorned beauty. But it is not an easy feat: a female nude photographer has to be extremely creative to get recognition from their audience.

The photographer of the female nude form is someone who thrives on inspiration. Inspired female nude photographers see the beauty in the nudity of women. Most female “nudes” photographers mostly deal with women, however there are times when the (Note the photographer has sessions with nude men and couples as well).

When someone with an artistic eye sees photography from a female nude photographer they see the unique and special beauty which no other type of art possesses. What to Expect from Your Sensuous or Boudoir Photography Session: Part 2

In the previous installment, we talked about some of the more general aspects of preparing for a boudoir or sensuous photography session. In this installment, we will address the personal aspects of the session: skin, hair, clothing and makeup preparation. Attention to every detail is what will make a boudoir or sensuous session with your professional photographer an unqualified success.

Skin: Do your best to avoid excessive sun for 2, and preferably 3 days, before your boudoir photography session. Any sunburn or “discolored” areas, including tan lines, may not be what you are looking for in your final sensuous photographs. While Cherie’s Studio can digitally airbrush certain minor imperfections in any sensuous or boudoir photos, the amount of time needed to color correct major color shifts in your skin will probably not be economically feasible.

Clothing: Be sure to select clothing appropriate for your romantic sensuous or boudoir session. Wear clothing that fits loosely to ensure there are no marks on your body that will show during your photo session. Of course any marks from clothing do go away in time, but typically there are reasonable limits as to how long a photographer will wait. Professional models know the tricks of the trade, and so the photographer doesn’t have to wait for any clothing marks to go away. Cherie can advise on such techniques before your boudoir or sensuous photo session.

Hair & Makeup: Ensure that your hair is as perfect as it can be for your photographer. Sensuous or boudoir sessions require that you wear a button up shirt or other garment that does not have to be pulled over your head ruining your hair or makeup for the photography session.

This saves time when changing clothes to begin your session. Any extra effort required on the part of your photographer will add to the duration of the session, and possibly add to any anxiety you may be experiencing. An experienced and understanding boudoir photographer like Cherie’s Studio will understand your feelings, and work with you to make sure your sensuous photography session goes off without a hitch!

What to Expect from Your Sensuous or Boudoir Photography Session: Part 1

So you’ve made an appointment with a sensuous boudoir photographer and everything is all set for the big day. What do you have to do to prepare?

First and foremost, your primary goal is to ensure your intimate photo session with your boudoir photographer is the absolute best it can be. A photographer can do a lot to help you with your look; however there are a few things you need to do in order to help the boudoir photographer, whose job it is to ensure you look your sensuous best.

Time of Day: If your session with the boudoir photographer is in the morning be sure to eat a good breakfast. If your session is in the afternoon make sure you eat a light lunch. You’ll need a lot of energy to pose for your romantic boudoir or sensuous photo session. The last thing you need is to run out of energy in the middle of a shoot with a photographer who has planned a 2 hour boudoir session that could involve several costume changes and sensuous set designs.

Length of Session: Speaking of duration, don’t pay attention to how much time it is taking for your session. Any good boudoir photographer is not expecting that you’re in at 10am and out by noon. A talented photographer who is used to sensuous and boudoir sessions with non-models knows that clock-watching will stress you out and that will definitely show in your photos.

Scheduling: Arrange to arrive for the session early enough so that you have time to relax before the shoot with your photographer. Stress sets in when you rush. As a rule most photographers, sensuous, boudoir, or fashion–won’t want to rush into a photography session either. But when you rush to get to your boudoir session with your photographer, anxiety is sure to set in and will show in your photographs. If you are anxious it’s going to be difficult for you to relax and set the romantic mood necessary for a photographer to have a successful sensuous or boudoir session with you. (While off topic, this time to relax is also critical when you are having your pet photographed.)

Bringing Friends: Always be on the safe side when arranging a session with your sensuous boudoir photographer. If you will be more comfortable, ask up front if you can bring along a girlfriend with you to the studio. If the photographer refuses your request you may want to check out that person a little closer before committing to a sensuous or boudoir photo session that makes you nervous. It could also be a matter of safety and peace of mind when arranging a photography session with someone who will be seeing you in boudoir or other sensuous attire.

Cherie’s Studio, like most reputable photographers, will not have an issue with you bringing someone. Your session is always safe, relaxing and enjoyable. The only request the photographer may make is that anyone accompanying you not be in the studio during the boudoir or sensuous photo session. (Again, while off topic, this probably would not—but could—apply when you bring your pet or pets in for a photo session.) The sensuous boudoir photographer is working, and they do not consider what they do a spectator sport!

Many women think they don’t have the “looks” to hire a sensuous boudoir photographer. DON’T FRET: you shouldn’t be concerned that you aren’t the “model” type; few of us are! Have no fear, since a great sensual boudoir photographer like Cherie’s Studio will have a stylist that will know the right look for you. The stylist, with the help of the photographer, will give you hairstyle, makeup and wardrobe suggestions to achieve the look of the totally sensual woman that you are.

While not an inexpensive experience, it is important that your photographer discuss with you up front what you are getting for your investment in a classy and sensuous boudoir session.

Boudoir

My efforts in boudoir, sensuous and glamour photography started out years ago, when I saw something on TV on a talk show. I didn’t have any idea what it was, but I was interested. We built a chaise and got hold of many fabrics and started shooting models. And I did very well. Soon, I joined the Professional Photographers of Ohio and attended many professional seminars through them, perfecting my skills.

I became an Award Winning Photographer with them many years in a row after I studied with Ken Marcus from Playboy. Ken came to town and gave a wonderful seminar on Playboy-style photography. Later, I met the people who supplied him with his model and ended up eating dinner with them that evening. I found out how I could study with him and I did. He change my professional attitude of photography towards women and how to photograph them. From Ken I learned a lot about his lighting and posing techniques. The course was so intense, but I’m proud to have been one of his students.

I love being able to capture women in the soft alluring way that I do. It’s sensuous, playful and teasing. My boudoir / sensuous / glamour photography style grew and flourished into a full time business.

While studying with Ken, his makeup artist taught us makeup application techniques. In the beginning I did the makeovers. My studio now has a wonderful makeup artist, Jennie Sullivan. She is excellent, the best I have ever had the pleasure to work with! She has just the right touch for photography makeovers. When we set up a session for you, she is a must to use.

To move ahead with my business, I invested in my own sets to shoot sessions. At the time, we were shooting in rented (and expensive!) homes. That was a big investment. By creating my own sets, I was able to offer my clients more variety to choose from. My background is interior design with a degree in Art education. I’m an extremely artsy person. I love the fine arts. I love the beauty of the women’s figure. I love to make them feel great about themselves.

I have had 3 studios and each has been different from the other. I plan on creating a new studio soon here in Columbus, Ohio. It should be larger with more new exciting boudoir and sensuous sets to shoot from.
